At
approximately
6 a.m.
this
morning,
the
Carmel
Clay
Fire
Department
(CFD)
responded
to a
residential
fire at
10312
North
College
Avenue.
Upon
arrival,
the CFD
discovered
that all
occupants
were
already
evacuated.
CFD
reports
that the
fire
started
in a
section
of the
garage
that had
been
converted
into a
bedroom.
There
was an
electric
space
heater
in the
area,
but it
is as
yet
undetermined
if this
was the
cause of
the
fire.
The
occupant
of the
sleeping
area
where
the fire
started
had
second
degree
burns to
the arm
and was
treated
and
released
at the
scene,
refusing
transport
to a
medical
facility
and any
further
treatment.
No other
injuries
were
reported.
The
estimated
damage
to the
property
was
$45,000.
